Physical Education

Examining Boards – OCR

SUBJECT CONTENT

This course helps the student to understand the richness and diversity of Sport and Physical Education. It examines the performer in action, exploring the anatomical and physiological factors which influence the performance, and how the mind and body process complex physical skills.

Considerations are given to how people prepare themselves psychologically for performance or competition, highlighting how tutors, coaches and performers can optimise their performance. The understanding of sport is further enhanced by exploring its historical development through the centuries and how today’s society and many cultures have influenced contemporary sport. Students are also expected to perform two practical activities – one team, one individual.
