Examining Board - AQA
Subject Content
The Advanced GCE Applied Information and Communication Technology has been developed in conjunction with the ICT industry and reflects ICT’s use across industry, commerce and service sectors.
The focus is on both the hardware and software used to provide ICT services. It enables students to develop and apply ICT skills whilst developing an appreciation of the importance of ICT in society.
Applied ICT enhances and supports all post 16 qualifications and provides opportunities to specialise in areas such as networking, programming and systems analysis & design.
Methods of Study
For each unit you will be given some background and underpinning knowledge. You will also be given the opportunity to develop a range of vocational and general skills.
The teaching strategies include:
- Discussion and debate
- Annotation of handouts
- Videos
- Interactive computer programs
- Visiting speakers
- Workplace visits
- Mini projects
For the internally assessed units, you will then be given an assignment and a deadline for its completion. The assignments are structured and broken down into specific tasks with guidelines, but you will need to work independently on the tasks.
