Six Form Students Aim High For Top Jobs
How not to make friends and influence people
You’ve applied for that perfect job and you’ve been selected for an interview. You need to make a good impression, but you are absolutely terrified. Well, thanks to an innovative presentation given in the first Year 13 assembly, our students are now equipped to face even the toughest of interviews.
It began with Guy Charnock, in his suit and tie, being interviewed by Gopal Viswanathan and Cyd Ross. Their aim was to demonstrate what not to say to your prospective employer and how not to behave in an interview. Highlights of this presentation included Guy turning up late to an interview and hugging the employer, then half way through getting up and answering his phone and discussing football. Catherine Benbow narrated the scenes and presented a PowerPoint slide show.
It was hilariously funny, but still managed to be highly informative. We’ve all been applying for top jobs ever since, so watch out Gordon Brown!
The second half of the assembly was presented by Cyd Ross, who encouraged students to consider giving blood. We were reminded that this only takes a minimal amount of time and effort, but can actually save the life of someone in hospital. We were given time to reflect on the choices we make and encouraged to be generous and achieve something truly remarkable.
If you require more information about giving blood, or need to find out where your nearest session is then check out the website on www.blood.co.uk or phone 0845 7711 711.
